The Character of Christ

Sometimes you come across a book that just hits the spot. It brings the right balance of encouragement and challenge, theology and application. This is the latest of those kind of books that crossed my desk.

I was recently recommended this book and when that happens I normally think “meh, maybe it’s just the hype, I’ll wait and see”. But it saw it in my local Christian bookshop so I went for it. I read it during a 2 hour flight and really enjoyed it!

Cruse takes you to Galatians and the well known passage about the fruit of the Spirit.

Often Christians can think of the fruit of the Spirit as a to-do list, but that’s not true. Cruse helpfully points out that the list in Galatians 5 is not a to-do list, but it’s a Jesus-did list.

Cruse takes you through the fruit of the Spirit and point out how each of them is seen gloriously in Jesus. You’ll find quotes from old theologians, illustrations that drive the point home and applications that will challenge you on all fronts. But most importantly you’ll see how awesome Jesus is!

Why should Christian’s examine the life and character of Jesus so much? Well, here’s what Cruse says…

“A close examination of the character of Christ is the only thing that will change your own character”

If you’re looking for a book that will fuel your devotional life and devotion to Christ, give you insights into His life and love for His people and push you to praise Him, I’d highly recommend this one!

I don’t often give out ratings for books anymore, but if I was pushed I’d give this a 5/5! It was precisely the read I needed.

Get your copy from the Banner of Truth for just £6 and enjoy a short but very insightful read!
