Someone will always know better

If you’ve spent any time in ministry, you will have critics. There will be people, some of whom haven’t been in ministry themselves, who think that they know how to do your job better than you do. I’ve seen this happen a lot with Pastors. Don’t get me wrong, no Pastor should ever be above listening to people, but they must know the church, its members and the Pastor themselves. Every Pastor has critics, but spend a minute on social media and it seems that those critics become even more.

Identifying Heart Transformation

Can people really change? It’s a question that most people will ask at least once in their life about a friend, a family member or a loved one. It’s also a question that you ask most often about yourself. It’s easy to see a pattern in your life and to get frustrated because you keep falling into the same pattern of behaviour or sin and it’s frustrating. Here’s a short book that gets to the root of the question; can people change?

Christian leadership

There are countless books in the world on the topic of leadership. There are also plenty of Christian books on Christian leadership, so the question is, do we really need more? A controversial take on bi-vocational ministry

I had a brief chat the other day and my take on bi-vocational ministry was called controversial. So, here’s a very brief explanation as to why I believe what I believe. Bi-vocational ministry isn’t ideal!

Dream Small

One of the biggest temptations in life, for many people at least, is the game of comparison. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we need to bigger more significant things in life and be held with higher honour. But it is just that, it’s a trap! It lures you in, it seems harmless, but you can get stuck in a vicious cycle of never feeling as if you’re doing enough and wearing yourself down. This book is a glorious reminder of the blessing and beauty of living an ordinary Christians life!

Sometimes sorry just isn’t enough.

Sadly stories of abusive leadership in churches is not uncommon. I’m not going to mention any by name because that’s not the point, we will all know of cases (prominent or local) of church leaders who have used their position of authority for evil. The abuse of power can take many forms (control, bullying, silencing others, sexual abuse, etc.). Over the last few years there’s been so many headlines of church leaders resigning over some moral failing. But there’s a problem…
