It’s so easy to get pulled into the thinking that church is there to serve us, isn’t it? People go to churches that they like, which is not always the church that they actually need. People soften the gospel message to make it nicer to hear. People can be more concerned with entertainment rather thanContinue reading “Comfortable Christianity…”

Engaging well…
One of the topics that every Bible College and seminary student, Christian and church worker will wrestle with is; how do we engage people well with the good news of Jesus?
Are we setting our kids up to fail?
One of the privileges that I’ve had over the last few years is seeing children and youth ministry within the contexts of different churches, in different countries and with different leading styles. In the most recent few years I have enjoyed leading the youth ministry in two different churches. The question that I find myselfContinue reading “Are we setting our kids up to fail?”
Is ‘progressive’ a positive thing in the church?
Have you ever heard of a church or a Christian describe themselves as being progressive? On the surface this might sound great, I mean who doesn’t want to be constantly changing and growing right? But is that what people mean?

The idea can be summed up in this statement “I feel that this is the right things, therefore, it must be the right thing” This isContinue reading “3 dangers of changing Scripture to be more comfortable…”
Where did our healthy reading culture go?
As you have probably guessed already, I spend a lot of my time reading, but I also spend a lot of time talking about books. I talk about books through this blog, through this blog’s Facebook page and in person. I recommend books to tons of people and I really enjoy putting good resources inContinue reading “Where did our healthy reading culture go?”
