I love preaching! I enjoy having the privilege to be paid full-time to study and expound God’s Word in many different settings; from the pulpit, in the coffee shop and in evangelism. Preaching is an absolute joy, but it is also difficult.

Escaping the maze of spiritual abuse
There are some books that I wish I didn’t have to review! Not because they are bad, not because of the publishers but because of the topic. This is one of those books. It saddens me that books need to be written about spiritual abuse, it saddens me that it is even a thing!
What are you winning people to?
Church is an interesting place. People gather on a Sunday morning to hear God’s Word read, to listen to a sermon, to sing songs of praise, to pray to the Lord and to fellowship with His people. But there are many different ‘styles’ of churches. The two biggest areas that can differ stylistically in aContinue reading “What are you winning people to?”
Welcome and care for the new guy…
It’s been nearly two years since Sabine and I moved church. We moved because I was given a job as Assistant Pastor in a different church in Edinburgh. Even though we weren’t moving city, we were still nervous about how we would manage changing church.

But what is the church? Many people,Continue reading “What is the church?”
Do I really need church?
Have you noticed how the world has become more and more focused on the individual? The ‘dog eat dog’ nature of the workplace has crept into every area of society, meaning that community is on the plummet and individualism is on the rise. Therefore, the church is a funny place because there isn’t, or shouldn’tContinue reading “Do I really need church?”
The End of Religion
I picked up this book because a friend of mine wanted a review on it, and once I received it in the post and read, on the back of the book, ‘sick of religion? So was Jesus’ I was intrigued. Reading a sentence like that got my attention alright, and so I took the bookContinue reading “The End of Religion”
