Scripture Journal…

Over the years my attitude to note taking, underlining and scribbling in books has changed. Looking at books I read 3 years ago the spines are not bent, the pages are clean and it looks like I haven’t turned a page. Looking at my books now is a different story. Dog ears, highlights, underlines, notes and scribbles adorn most of my books. But one of the things I’ve always struggled with is that when I study a passage of the Bible, I’ve not found a Bible with enough space for all the comments and notes… until now…

The Hope We Have In Christ

The world is full of news that saddens humanity and brings a tear to our eyes. Even the strongest of men and the most stoic of people clutch for the tissues when they face it. It awaits every living thing. It is death. But unlike everyone else, a Christian has a certain hope that holds them fast as the reality of death draws closer.

Give A Gift Without an Expiry Date

Christmas, a time of joy for many but also a time of pain for many. Christmas, at its core, is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time to celebrate who Jesus is and why Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us. I’d like to highlight a few books that will be a source of encouragement, that will give you time to reflect on Jesus and that will help you discover and tell people the true meaning of Christmas. These can be gifts to others or yourself, but they will point you to the greatest gift that can ever be given, everlasting life through Jesus Christ.

Choose Your Words Wisely

Words are much more than legible scribbles on a piece of paper. Words are much more than black and white characters on a screen. The way we use our words is important because they can harm or comfort, build up or break down. But more than that, we must be wise in the timing of our words. It’s not only the what but also the when.

Kid’s Christmas

*I received a free copy of these books from the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This has not clouded my judgment *

Christmas is a great opportunity to tell children about Jesus. The Lord has blessed the church with a ton of great children’s books and other resources to help with that. I’d like to highlight just a few to you that will help you share the message of Christmas with children this year. Some of these books are great to read to kids and others are great to think about giving away. If you know of a toddler group, a new mums group or similar kind of groups, why not buy multiple copies and give them away?

The Thinking That Hinders the Christian Community

Slightly dramatic? Maybe or maybe not. I’ll let you decide. Can a thought process, or a certain attitude really be that harmful to the Christian community? I honestly think they can. Our thoughts and our attitudes lead to actions, which can have a positive or a negative effect on things.

Maybe your initial thought was “sure, certain thinking can hinder the church. Wrong theology, etc”. Yes, that is true. But I want to go deeper than that.

New resources for kids, for the eyes and ears…

There are so many kids resources out there for children, so many good books that will encourage learning, reading and growth in knowledge and love for Jesus. One of the things I love about some of the new resources I’m sent to review is that they are so biblical! Here are a few resources that will help you, whether you’re a parent or not, teach children about Jesus, the Bible and the world we live in.
