Christmas is just around the corner. I know, I know, it is still October. However, in the blink of an eye we’ll be buying a Christmas tree and preparing to gather with people to sing some carols and celebrate the birth of Jesus. But it’s easy to get caught up in the presents, the food,Continue reading “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…”

Marriage, Theology, Prayer, Self Harm and Following Jesus
I haven’t been keeping up with my normal weekly pattern of book reviews lately. Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t. Regardless, I have a plan that I keep to. But the past month or soo I’ve taken it a bit slower. However, even though the reviews haven’t been coming out, I have still been reading.Continue reading “Marriage, Theology, Prayer, Self Harm and Following Jesus”
There Came a Day
Stories are powerful. When you hear someone’s story you get much more than what they think or believe. A story is an invitation into the heart and emotions of a person to rejoice and weep with them. Here’s a story that I read yesterday.
Know Your Enemy
Each of us fall into sin every day. We can try our hardest to be good, but we will always fall. It should be a daily reminder to us that we cannot do it by ourselves. But, we can equip ourselves and know our enemy.
7 reasons to (re)consider Christianity
I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for books to give away to folks. I like being able to have something handy for people to take away and be challenged and encouraged by it. Sharing a story…

Preaching; Experience and Emotions
I love receiving books to review about preaching, because 1) I preach regularly and 2) because I love preaching. Over the last few days I have read two very different books, one reflects on 50 years of Word ministry and the other focuses on the use of emotions in preaching (kind of). Let me sayContinue reading “Preaching; Experience and Emotions”
Understanding Esther, 1 Corinthians and James
One of my great privileges as a pastor is to preach from God’s Word. I spend a lot of time in God’s Word as I prepare sermons, write Bible studies, disciple people and go on pastoral visits, etc. Spending time in the Bible is a precious gift that every Christian should enjoy. And as weContinue reading “Understanding Esther, 1 Corinthians and James”
Kid’s Corner
Every once in a while I like to review books for little readers. These reviews are much shorter and basically act as a “Yes, I liked it” or “No, I didn’t like it”. I do this because there are so many books out there for kids and I don’t want to add to the confusion.Continue reading “Kid’s Corner”
