The angelic realm is one of somewhat mystery and myth. Countless stories abound of people seeing angels or knowing someone with a special kind of encounter with an ‘angelic being’. But what do we actually know about angels? Many Christians, sometimes quite rightly, are skeptical of encounter stories.

Hymn Workouts
Hymns, some people love to sing them and belt them out at the top of their lungs, others struggle with them and with the melody and some of the language used. But most Christians I know will have at least one ‘old’ hymn that has really impacted them and their spiritual growth as they’ve ponderedContinue reading “Hymn Workouts”
The Visual Word
As you know, I love a good book. But what you may, or may not, know is that I also like a book that looks really nice, both inside and out. I enjoy seeing how illustrators and authors work hand in hand to create works of art that not only inform your mind, but alsoContinue reading “The Visual Word”
Men and Miscarriages
There are some books that I just do not want to have to review, not because the books aren’t good, but because the topics are heart wrenching, this is one of them. But before you switch off, let me also explain why this book is necessary. Over the years I’ve read a few books onContinue reading “Men and Miscarriages”
Neglected or Misused: Understanding God’s Word
Over the years I’ve spent so many hours with Christians, in pastoral situations, in general conversations and in conversations about what they’re reading (both in terms of Bible books and other reading materials). One of the books that isn’t read much is Deuteronomy, if Leviticus is the place Bible reading plans go to die, thoseContinue reading “Neglected or Misused: Understanding God’s Word”
Church, Knowing God, Forgiveness, Women, Suffering and thing in common…
I was recently on holiday, as you can probably imagine, one of the hardest things for me going on holiday is knowing which books to take with me. Depending on the holiday destination, I like to spend a lot of time on the beach or by the pool with a good book. That’s what IContinue reading “Church, Knowing God, Forgiveness, Women, Suffering and thing in common…”
Why love the local church?
We live in a world where the local church is coming under fire more and more. People, even Christians, are doubting the necessity of the local gathering of the body of Christ. How do we as Christians fight against this decline in love for the local church? We get to know why the local churchContinue reading “Why love the local church?”
Changed lives that then changed lives
Reading the stories of Christians from the past who served the Lord is always a good thing to do. it encourages us to remember that the Christian message is not new, but that it has gone forth and changed many lives in the past. Stories from the past also help you see what the LordContinue reading “Changed lives that then changed lives”
Surviving the Trenches
The battle against sin can be a lonely one, can’t it? Especially for men, not because our struggles are worse than those of women but because men are less likely to open up than women (in my experience). How do we fight sin? Obviously we are enabled to live as God’s wants us to asContinue reading “Surviving the Trenches”
